Who says you need to attend a massive festival to get your fix on performances from internationally-renowned, GRAMMY award-winning producers and DJs? With more and more festivals coming into fruition each year, there's an even greater reason for fans to skip the hectic nature of purchasing tickets with massive price tags in a 10-second window.
The EDM Network has highlighted 10 festivals this summer that won't break the bank but still pack as big of a punch as some of the other popular gatherings taking place this year. From Dreamscape to Global Dance Festival to Free Press Summer Festival, we've got this year's small festival gatherings covered.
A Badass Raves production, this two-day camping festival at Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, Maryland, will be host to four stages of EDM. From May 8-10th, festival goers can catch performances from Aly & Fila, UZ, Meaux Green, Party Favor, and more. In addition to a jam-packed lineup, the festival also offers a plethora of other activities such as the Zendo lounge, which will host massage therapy, live painting, psychedelic tapestries, pop-up acrobatic demonstrations by Electrocute, and couches and mattresses for relaxing. Dreamscape also boasts daily pool parties set to feature sunrise acts each day. Dreamscape is a great option for kicking off the festival season.
Berkley Riverfront Park in Kansas City will be the home of Dancefestopia from September 11-13th. The lineup packs a huge punch with headlining performances by Bassnectar, Porter Robinson and Datsik, plus 50 more acts including everything from dubstep to Melbourne bounce to trap to deep house. Backwoods Music Festival
Labor Day weekend in Stroud, Oklahoma is going to get rowdy. Backwoods Music Festival will be held from September 4-6th and feature performances from Porter Robinson, Infected Mushroom, Doctor P, and Dirtyphonics, to name a few. Pack your flow toys and hop on Route 66 to make this end-of-summer bash of a lifetime.
Launched in 2013, Moonrise Festival is a joint production between local companies Steez Promo and Glow DC. Hosted on Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, Moonrise is a day festival that will open its gates from 11 am – 11 pm on August 8th through the 9th. Although this year’s line up has yet to be announced, the festival’s stages have been previously graced by the likes of Anna Lunoe, Robert Delong, TOKiMONSTA, and Kaskade.
Global Dance Festival
From July 17-19th, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is going to get lit during the “largest dance music event in the Rocky Mountains.” Global Dance Festival will be in full effect, with anticipated performances by Tiesto, Flosstradamus, Benny Bennasi and Above & Beyond. In addition to these monstrous acts, artists such as Lan 8, Route 94, Doctor P, Seven Lions, are slotted to perform at this year's gathering, and there are still many more to be announced.
Free Press Summer Festival
Texans do not play around when it comes to throwing down. Houston is going to be host to the annual Free Press Summer Festival, which will see performances from Flume, Skrillex, Major Lazer, RL Grime, Odesza, and more. Head out to Elanor Tinsley Park for this awesome music and arts festival on June 6 and 7th.
Atlantic City, NJ will be host to Electric Adventure from August 1st and 2nd. The festival anticipates performances by Pretty Lights, Dillon Francis, Beats Antique and more. The first of its kind, you won’t want to miss it.
Counterpoint is an annual festival right outside of Atlanta, Georgia in Kingston Downs. The line up from May 22-24 includes performances by Knife Party, Zedd, Excision, Griz and more. This is one camping excursion you won't forget.
Neon Desert Music Festival
Head over to downtown El Paso, Texas from May 22nd-24th for Neon Desert Music Festival and catch performances from Passion Pit, Kaskade, Flume and Salva. This is sure to be one hell of a Memorial Day weekend festival, as EDM will not be the only type of music represented throughout the weekend.
Sunset Music Festival
Memorial Day in Tampa, Florida is going to be just as live, as Sunset Music Festival will be hosted at Raymond James Stadium on May 23rd and 24th. Headliners include Tiesto, Skrillex, and Armin van Buuren, so although it seems like a smaller event, the aritsts are sure to please.
