Alina Baraz and Galimatias Team Up for Seductive EP, 'Urban Flora'
Consider taking a break from the chest-rattling, bone-crushing bass of your typical EDM album for a relaxing dip into the world of Galimatias and Alina Baraz's EP “Urban Flora.” The Danish producer and American singer/songwriter have joined forces in creating a uniquely sensual compilation of songs for this new release. After listening to even a few tracks, it becomes clear why both are causing quite a stir as emerging artists within the scene.
Taking a closer listen to what this duo has been up to, I can say with certainty that this production is set for major success. Not only is every track laced with the sultry vocals of Baraz, the way she sings is capable of creating a trance-like atmosphere when combined with the orchestral riffs and soft electro beats created by Galimatias. This is especially evident in their most recent single, “Can I,” where Baraz’s voice teases your auditory senses with lyrics so captivatingly seductive they “undress you” by the track's conclusion.
“Fantasy” on the other hand, creatively infuses upbeat jazz influences while continuing to highlight Baraz’s enchanting voice. Listening to how smoothly the vocals intertwine with the instrumentals, there is no wonder it has received such high acclaim even before the official release of “Urban Flora,” sitting pretty at #5 on the iTunes Electronic Charts and Spotify top Viral 50, while also garnering over 10.7 million plays on Soundcloud.
“Urban Flora” is a beautifully composed EP that thoughtfully incorporates elements of electro, jazz, R&B and hip-hop, allowing for a unique balance in tone from the album’s beginning to end. Although it is due for official release on May 19 via Ultra Music, you can still pre-order on iTunes and get instant access to “Fantasy,” “Can I,” “Drift,” and “Pretty Thoughts.” Reserve your copy of the album here, and get ready to witness this duo relish in the stratosphere of acclaim.
