Major U.S. Festival Ends Hiatus, Creatively Reveals New Location
Before its cancellation in 2014, Camp Bisco was one of upstate New York’s premiere electronic and jam band music festivals. The event is organized by the Philly-based electronic jam band The Disco Biscuits in conjunction with MCP Presents. Since its inception in 1999, thousands of eager festival-goers flocked to Indian Lookout Country Club for the annual festival, which often drew some of the most forward-thinking electronic acts in the world.
In 2013, a slew of arrests, drug hospitalizations and a lawsuit were levied against the festival, and Bisco fans feared its demise. Amidst these growing drug concerns, Camp Bisco cancelled its 2014 event, and an hour away from Indian Lookout Country Club, Hudson River Music & Arts Project was born. The Hudson River music festival attempted to replace the popular Camp Bisco, but a ravaging rainstorm left the festival grounds flooded and attendees stranded. Hudson River’s first year became its last.
Earlier in 2015, the official Camp Bisco website emerged with “Camp Bisco 2015” and “Coming Soon! 2015” on a blank white page. Rumors ran rampant about the return of the festival to Indian Lookout Country Club, but with no official announcement from Camp Bisco, the rumors eventually began to die down.
Now, the website no longer shows the two headlines, rather it displays a crossword puzzle. Taking a look through the crossword puzzle yields an interesting response - “Never had a home like this, the prophets said be careful what you wish. Never had to think twice, always knew my home was in paradise. Scranton, Pennsylvania.” Perhaps, Camp Bisco is making its triumphant return, not to Indian Lookout Country Club, but to a new home in Scranton, PA.
