In an interesting turn of events, Facebook’s leading director of engineering, Lars Rasmussen, has resigned from his position as he looks forward to impacting the music industry. The Danish software engineer launched the company Where 2 Technologies, which was later acquired by Google back in 2004. Now, Rasmussen and fiancé Elomida Visviki’s are focusing on their London-based company Cute Little Apps Limited, a non-streaming startup.

Facebook released a statement regarding the departure of Rusmussen as the director of engineering: “We're a company of entrepreneurs and now that Facebook at Work is off the ground and growing quickly we understand Lars' desire to return to his startup roots. We wish him the very best.”

In a world dominated by online streaming services such as Soundcloud, Spotify, Tidal and countless others, the music industry could seriously benefit from an alternate way of consuming music. Lars Rasmussen details the forthcoming startup as "a new and exciting way to compose and experience music," which he decided was "way too much fun to postpone any longer."
