Alesso Explains How Nirvana Changed EDM
As one of the most talented acts in all of dance music right now, Alesso is gradually becoming one of the most talked about acts, as well. But even coming off of two headlining performances at Coachella, the Swedish producer still occasionally falls in the shadow of his mentor, Sebastian Ingrosso, and their group, Swedish House Mafia. Alesso's highly-anticipated debut solo album, Forever, is slated to change all of that.
With three singles from Forever already released, Alesso is showing the world what he's really made of. In fact, he is one of the few dance music producers to write his own lyrics for each track. Alesso takes writing lyrics as an opportunity to express himself, and often times, they are inspired by personal hardships. In an interview with Billboard, Alesso opened up saying, “Sure, that stuff gets my blood pumping, but I'm trying to dig deeper with dance music. People say [EDM] is this soulless, simple thing. Kurt Cobain wrote about misery and heartbreak. Why can't I?"
With Forever slated to hit the shelves on May 26th, Alesso will attempt to make his own unique mark by bringing more raw emotion and feeling into dance music. Decide for yourself if he is on the right track by checking out his latest single, “Cool,” below!
