Spotify Partners With Tiesto, Debuts New Feature That Matches Music To Your Running Pace
Between the launch of TIDAL and the impending revamp of Apple's Beats Music, the war between streaming services continues to wage onward. Spotify predated many contemporary services with its early beginnings, and now the service will incorporate new features to set it apart from its competitors. One of the primary new features focuses on the utilization of new video content, specifically from partnerships with ESPN, Comedy Central, Disney and NBC.
Another new feature is called Now, and it curates custom playlists based upon the user's current time of day, past listening habits, and saved playlists. This announcement also came with the reveal that podcasts would soon feature on the streaming platform.
Another feature coming to Spotify will be called Spotify Running, and noted EDM producer Tiësto played a pivotal role in the feature's development. Spotify Running plays specifically designed songs that detect a user's running speed and changes the tempo of a track to match a user's footstep speed. Enter Tiësto, who produced an entirely new track with multiple versions to fit the various running speeds a Spotify user may reach. The features come to U.S. Spotify users this week.
