To be honest, I wasn’t sure about Spirals at first listen, but after a few spins of the track it really started to grow on me. It would be an understatement to say that this track is ‘huggy’ (note to self, buy domain name ‘huggydubstep.com’), but you can definitely expect to be embracing your friend/girlfriend/dog/chair with that familiar ‘I f**king love you mate’ hug once the beat drops.

There’s a catchy piano solo in there which adds to the track, and I can honestly say that Spirals was different to anything I’ve heard in a long time. It somehow manages to be euphoric, chilled, emotional, and a power tune at the same time. I’m not so sure about the lyrics, but the combined effect of the busy instrumental is nice. It will be interesting to see how melodic dubstep develops and whether it will evolve in a similar way to loungecore (melodic D’n’B) coming out of drum and bass, the punters certainly seem to be showing this track some love!

Sound Remedy and Illenium have taken a turn away from the popular aggressive style of high energy dubstep for something suitable for a completely different scene - I mean, there’s even some ocean sounds in there. Far from Knife Party, this is more of a Spoon Gathering, so enjoy the new tune and look out for more from these talented musicians.
