Major Lazer Announces Details Of Next Album
2015 has proved to be a triumphant year thus far for dancehall music trio Major Lazer. Composed of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire, the trio has been anything but quiet these past few months with the launch of their cartoon series, the release of singles including the massive hit “Lean On” with DJ Snake and MØ and the announcing of several headlining performances including festivals Life Is Beautiful, Electric Zoo and many more. Major Lazer’s cartoon show on FXX also hit the television world this year with appearances from Tiësto, RiFF RAFF and Trinidad Jame$, among others.
Although their much talked about third studio album Peace Is The Mission is still expected to drop June 1, 2015, news has surfaced of another impending album. In an interview with inthemix, Walshy Fire revealed that the trio would be releasing yet another album towards the end of the year and even divulged the title: Music Is The Weapon.
“For sure, we’re gonna release another album. We already have a name for it, it’s called Music is the Weapon, and it’s gonna come out later this year or early next year for sure… It’ll have a few more club songs, a few more festival songs…but it’ll be in the same spectrum, just super-well-written songs with really great production that the entire world can understand.”
He also spoke about the upcoming Major Lazer international festival tour, mentioning that the experience would be the most advanced, high-energy performances they’ve put on yet.
“We’ve got double the dancers – it’s about 11 people – double the everything: pyro, lights. It’s an amazing show, it’s completely different from what you guys have seen, but with the same hardcore energy.”
