DJs have long served the role of tastemakers. Armin van Buuren still fits firmly in this category, and often finds himself influenced by the region he's playing in, as he revealed in an interview at A State of Trance Festival in Mumbai, India. What was even more interesting during the interview was when the Dutch producer spoke about what he grew up listening to and what he listens to now and why.

If one thing is certain, it's that Armin's love for music is diverse. Growing up he was influenced by electronic legend Ben Liebrand, but also Pink Floyd. Nowadays, he listens to everything from Ellie Goulding to Rage Against the Machine and Jamiroquai, to name a few.

It's great that such an accomplished producer is still allowing himself to be influenced from a wide variety of sources. Maybe this variation is one of his secrets to success?
