The meteoric rise of Australian producer Flume bears testament to the growing acceptance of alternative electronic music subgenres. Flume went from a fairly unknown name to near-headlining act over a very short period, and his characteristic sound continues to be emulated by other producers. However, aside from a few remixes, Flume stopped releasing new original tracks after his 2013 collaborative EP with fellow Australian producer and vocalist Chet Faker.

Flume finally released a brand new original track called "Some Minds." The track premiered with an accompanying music video through music publication Pitchforkand features vocals from Miike Snow member Andrew Wyatt. The track itself champions many of the features fans associate with Flume's music, including a gradual build-up, electric synths and a gripping breakdown.
