The Chainsmokers Switch Things Up With New Song 'Roses'
The Chainsmokers exploded into the public consciousness with their 2014 viral hit “#SELFIE,” a Melbourne bounce-style club banger that served as something of a social commentary on the narcissism present in the culture of social media. Musically, it had all the predictable features of a dance hit, with mind bending risers and bouncy synth drops.
But in the last few months, the DJ duo’s output has been receiving an upheaval, with their style evolving in a more melodic direction. This is most evident in their recent song, the uplifting “Roses” ft. Rozes. The song features a steady mid-tempo beat, and summery synth chords that roll beneath Rozes voice. The Chainsmokers apparently helped pen the lyrics, as well.

The Chainsmokers are completely upfront about their desire to keep their fans guessing as to their stylistic choices behind their music, as evident from this tweet.
