David Guetta Becomes First DJ To Score Two Billion Spotify Plays
Ever since helping introduce EDM to the mainstream radio, David Guetta continues to hit career milestone after career milestone. In 2015 alone he has received an ICON award, been declared as the the 2016 Musical Ambassador for the Union of European Football Associations, and performed at the inaugural Billboard Music Awards. Guetta's new achievement attests to his persistent appeal, as the producer has become the first DJ to earn two million plays on Spotify.
Guetta joins Ed Sheeran and Eminem as the third artist to score two million plays on the streaming service. Two of Guetta's tracks alone netted over 200 million plays each: the Vassy collaboration "Bad" and his radio chart-topper "Titanium" with Sia. To top it off, Guetta holds the title for the most-followed artist on Spotify; 6.8 million users follow his account.
To celebrate the accomplishment, Guetta released a new remix for his Nicki Minaj and Afrojack collaboration "Hey Mama," produced by Boaz van de Beatz.
