Zedd Teams Up With Lady Antebellum For Unique EDM/Country Performance

Electronic dance music has made its way into several other music genres from hip hop to pop to even reggae. Now, we are witnessing a bridge between EDM and country. While Avicii has served as a pioneer for uniting electronic and country music with Country-influences in major tracks such as “Wake Me Up,” “Hey Brother” and more, German DJ/producer Zedd appears to be the next big dance music act stepping up to the plate.

On June 10, 2015, the CMT Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee will feature a live performance by Zedd and Lady Antebellum as the two acts come together to perform a medley of their current singles. We can thank John Hamlin, CMT SVP of music events and talent, for this unforeseen live collab. Here's what the SVP told Billboard about the crazy combo:

“I’m starting to love the EDM/pop elements that are finding their way into today’s country and have been looking for [a] chance to connect the dots on TV. Both Zedd and Lady Antebellum immediately responded to our idea of putting them together for a CMT Music Awards performance. As far as we know it’s the first ever awards show country/EDM jam.”
