Gorillaz Announce Their Return With The Recording Of A New Album
Virtual Band Gorillaz have announced that there will be more music to come in the near future. Damon Albarn, co-founder of Gorillaz as well as lead vocalist for Blur, has announced that he will be hitting the studio this fall to lay down new material for the cartoon group.
"I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record."
There had been some fear amongst fans of the group that their dreams of a new Gorillaz album would not be realized, due to the long absence in release. The band has not released anything since 2012's "Do Ya Thang," a single produced in collaboration with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. Their last studio album, The Fall, was released in 2011. But Damon assures fans there will be new music soon enough.
"I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance...I'd love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."
Jamie Hewlett, the illustrator for Gorillaz, surprised fans with some new artwork a few months prior.
