Diplo's Working On 'Huge Records' With Vampire Weekend Frontman
In a recent interview, Diplo talked about collaborating with Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig on some new material. Diplo has something of a connection with the group, having previously collaborated with Koenig on Major Lazer's "Jessica," as well as working with Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij on "Long Way Home" last year.
In the interview with Rolling Stone, Diplo talked about his current collaborations with Koenig.
"I've done a lot of songs with Ezra Koenig [of Vampire Weekend], some really cool stuff that I hope people get to hear. We wrote a couple of things for another artist that might be huge records for the end of summer — one of them started with a Vampire Weekend idea. But he's not traditional rock — he's like me, a hodgepodge of styles and influences."
Vampire Weekend have recently talked about their next album, which they are already preparing material for. Koenig explained that the new material is still in a developmental stage.
"Right now we’re definitely gearing up to start working on another album but, we’re not in a zone of like getting in there everyday or anything."
He also referenced previous material that had not yet been used, which could possibly include some of the same songs Diplo referred to, though this is unknown at this time.
"There are songs that are left over, not to diminish them, but songs that just weren’t quite right for the last album that I’m very excited about for the next album, so you know there’s little demos that I kind of listen to everyday."
