15-Year-Old Girl Dies Of Suspected Overdose At L.A. Rave [VIDEO]
The death of a 15-year-old girl at an EDM party over the weekend has intensified the serious discussion about safety at EDM events. It is the third drug-related fatlity in the dance music community this month. Houa Hue, a high school student in Fresno, is suspected to have fatally overdosed on party drugs on Sunday after having attended a rave called Zoo-Tronic at the Fresno Fairgrounds in Los Angeles, though the exact cause of death will not be known until an autopsy can be completed.
Hue's tragic death occurred in the wake of the deaths of two young women at HARD Summer fest, which spurred a debate on whether to ban EDM events in the Los Angeles area. Last week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the movement to investigate such a ban on raves in the area, after three emergency room directors urged public officials to hold off on large raves in Los Angeles counties.
The call to temporarily ban raves is just the latest in a long running forum of discussions surrounding EDM's controversial status as drug-fueled party music and it's potential threat to public safety.
