After Festival-Goer Dies, Security Company Under Investigation For Homicide
A security company is under a homicide investigation after the death of a man who was taken into their custody at Backwoods Music Festival in Stroud, Oklahoma for displaying "erratic behaviour." Patrick Murphy, 34, was attending the music festival and was subdued by security officers after rushing the stage. He stopped breathing and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The death of Patrick Murphy is being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as a possible homicide. A spokeswoman for OSBI made the following statement regarding the investigation:
"No one has been arrested or charged. We're not sure we have a crime here."
The incident isn't the only altercation the hired security team at Backwoods were involved in. Texas EDM duo FYER announced earlier last week that they had withdrawn from their scheduled performance at Backwoods after their tour manager was assaulted by security officers, sending him to the hospital with minor knife injuries.
Backwoods Music Festival posted an official statement to their Facebook regarding the issues with Event Security LLC.
