Steve Angello has finally confirmed a release date for his long-awaited debut solo album following his departure from the legendary Swedish House Mafia. Titled Wild Youth, the new album will be Angello's second released under his own name, following 2003's Tracks.
Wild Youth will be release on Angello's own SIZE Records on November 20, and will include previously released singles "Children Of The Wild" and "Wasted Love."
In an interview with Billboard back in May, Angello explained his motivation behind this album, which offers a new sound that departs from his Swedish House Mafia days.
“I’m trying to make a piece of art that I’ll be able to look back on in 10 years and say, I’m f---ing proud of that. I don’t want to look back and say, ‘Remember when we did that? I can’t believe the kids bought into it.’
...I’ve always wanted to be an artist, and I don’t consider anyone a real artist until they’ve made a real artist album that tells a real story. That’s the goal."
When asked if he felt a responsibility to help direct EDM towards higher standards, Angello responded...
"In a way. I’ve done this too long to f--- up now."
To celebrate the album's release date, Angello has dropped an epic music video for "Children Of The Wild." The video features a child running through an obstacle course of burning rubble as well as some stunning slow motion videography, driving home the theme of lost childhood in a mad world. It's a fitting visual accompaniment for the track and should help hold fans over until the new album is available.
