Get to Know "Don't Let Me Down" Star Daya [EDM.com Interview]
18-year old Daya is quickly making a name for herself, having gained major airplay for her vocals on The Chainsmoker's hit single "Don't Let Me Down".
But there's more to the young star than just a popular EDM track. EDM.com contributor Megan Venzin had the opportunity to sit down with the Pittsburgh native this fall at Thrival Innovation + Music Festival to discuss what it takes to transcend genres as an artist.
As a classically trained musician in jazz piano, classical piano, guitar, ukulele, and classical voice, Daya certainly isn't lacking in talent despite her young years.
Daya performed before a hometown crowd at Thrival, an immersive event that features curated programs from leading figures in art and technology in addition to major headliners. Supported by non-profit, Thrill Mill, Thrival seeks to helps early-stage entrepreneurs turn big ideas into reality.
This year, Thrival Fest saw major growth in its second annual event, featuring artists like Thievery Corporation, The Chainsmokers, CHVRCHES, Hudson Mohawke, Ty Dollar $, and many more.
