deadmau5 Premieres First Single from Upcoming W:/2016ALBUM/ [LISTEN]

After having just announced the details of his new album W:/2016ALBUM/, deadmau5 phoned in to BBC Radio 1 with Pete Tong for an exciting announcement and premiere. The Essential New Tune called "4ware" is the first single off the highly anticipated upcoming album.

During the interview, deadmau5 revealed that the name of the album is, in fact, the location of the files on his computer, and it was from fans on his twitch stream and it's the location of the album on his computer. The album pronounced "W Drive 2016 Album" is the first collective album from the artist in two years and the first album ever to be independently released on his own label, Mau5trap.

Comparing it to "Faxing Berlin," Pete Tong asked Joel about the track's overarching themes.

"There’s an 80’s sci-fi fantasy film vibe to some of the melodies. I think that’s due to my purchase of a Prophet 10. Any 80’s fantasy movie was a Prophet 10. When you’re drawn to this instrument, you’re immediately drawn to that kind of vibe," Joel said.

Finally, Pete Tong discussed deadmau5's revived live setup, the new cube, which Joel said would be revealed at a "very special" online event in conjunction with the album's release on December 2, 2016.
