Eric Prydz Raises $60,000, Premieres New IDs in Honor of Late Fan
When superfan James Lillo reached out to Eric Prydz with a dying wish to see him one more time, the Swedish producer/DJ arranged a special show at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles just for him. Unfortunately, James' battle with mediastinal nonseminomatous germ cell carcinoma, a rare form of terminal cancer, ended before he could attend the show.
Prydz was even more determined to honor James, expanding the event to two nights where all proceeds would go to James' charity of choice, the Cancer Research Institute.
"His battle and story have affected me deeply. Now more than ever I wish to play this event to raise money for his charity and honor his memory."
The shows were a smash, and Prydz was able to raise $60,000 for cancer research in James' name.
Prydz, with James' best friends by his side, also premiered four new tracks which have all been dubbed by his fans as "Lillo IDs."
James' longtime friend and fellow Prydz superfan Avery Weisfeld told Trance Hub that it was "exactly as James would have wanted it."
"It was honestly unbelievable, the best experience of my life. At one point after we met (Eric), we talked for a bit and he took us down to the stage. He started playing, with me and three friends in the booth, grabbed me and gave me the biggest hug and said ‘this is for James'."
