Krewella Forced to Cancel Festival Appearance After Denied Visa
Krewella announced yesterday that they have been forced to cancel their headlining performance at India's Sunburn Festival in Vagator, Goa. The sister EDM duo has been denied a visa because of their Pakistani heritage.
Steeped in years of conflict, strained relations between Pakistan and India have made it impossible for the Pakistani-American sisters from Illinois to enter India for the scheduled appearance.
Krewella now joins Pakistani actor and singer Fawad Afzal Khan in a statement hoping the two nations find resolution and peace. Khan was one of several Pakistani artists who were banned from India by the MNS after the September 2016 armed terrorists attack in Uri.
Organized by entertainment company Percept, Sunburn was launched in 2007 and remains Asia's largest music festival. The 4-day festival will celebrate its 10th Anniversary edition from December 28th to December 31st with headliners Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, KSHMR, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Dannic and more.
