Skrillex Shares Special Robot Heart Set From 2016 Burning Man [LISTEN]
To show his love this holiday season, Skrillex has finally released his hour-long set from the Robot Heart camp at the 2016 Burning Man.
In a message shared with the upload, Skrillex explains why this particular performance during the Sunset Art Tour was so special. Sonny had teamed up with Embrace to collaborate on the Space Whale Project, "a 50 foot tall full-scale crystalline humpback whale mother and calf diving through the sky built from steel and stained glass."
The Space Whale Project was designed to be "a monumental testament to family, our relationships with nature, time and space and our responsibility to preserve our environment."
Sonny's heartfelt set is full of emotive and ethereal tunes from Psychemagik's remix of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" to Tommie Sunshine, CID and Modern Machines take on Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps" to deadmau5 and Kaskade's "I Remember."
"This was a really special set because we had all of our friends with us. I brought a lot of first time burners out to the Playa this year. The whole Robot Heart crew took care of us all, and we got to see a lot of the art while I played. This year I collaborated with the team behind Embrace on the Space Whale project.
Hope you enjoy the mix, I mess up a few times but it doesn't really matter because the vibe was so awesome and so real.
I want to thank Robot Heart and everyone at Burning Man. I especially want to thank all of the artists who put a whole year of work and funding into creating all of the magical art we get to enjoy on what's probably the coolest canvas in the whole world aka the Playa.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a great new year.
