It's been a tough couple of days for Australia's Secret Valley Music Festival who are receiving backlash from fans who caught wind of the festival's cancellation from an unofficial source.

With less than two weeks until showtime, one of the festival's headliners, UK-duo Leftfield, announced on their Facebook page that they had scheduled club events in Sydney and Melbourne – for the same dates.

Secret Valley emerged as a destination boutique festival in Australia's wine country. However, poor ticket sales and lack of promotion stunted the festival's growth. As of February 9th the festival released an official statement on their facebook page:

Ticket purchasers were up in arms about hearing the cancellation so near the festival launch. With ticket refunds as a major concern, fans were also upset about the money lost on hotel reservations and transportation costs to Australia's Yarra Valley, one hour north-east of Melbourne.

Was lack of demand the true reason for Secret Valley's collapse?

One Facebook user commented:

"It was like a promotion free zone. Secret Valley indeed. So secret no one knew it was on."

Better luck next year!
