Sebastian Ingrosso just posted his first new tune away from his collaborative project with Axwell in two years, and it's not at all what we were expecting.

To be blunt, Swedish House Mafia and the members' other projects tend not to be my cup of tea. I've got respect for their songwriting, but purely on personal preference I tend to go for darker, harder, sound-design focused, broken-beat styles - neurofunk and that sort of thing. So when this new Ingrosso x LIOHN x Salvatore collab Flags! hit my ears, I was honestly floored by how much I liked it. It's got booty style breakbeats, snarling bass sounds, and ragga style vocals. Ingrosso has definitely experimented with harder sounds before, but I've never heard anything quite like this from him.

Flags! is obviously not following in the typical style of SHM or Axwell /\ Ingrosso, and for that it will probably disappoint some fans - there's already a string of hater comments on Soundcloud. But any real music fan should respect Ingrosso for pushing his boundaries and trying new things, and I for one hope he does a lot more like this. Flags! will be released on February 26th on his label Refune.

What do you think? Are you happy to see an artist experiment with new sounds and styles - or would you have preferred something more along the lines of classic SHM? Let us know in the comments!
