Beloved EDM Songstress Announces Indefinite Break From Music

Singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding has announced that she will be taking a break from music following the conclusion of her Delirium World Tour in October.

She is best known in the EDM world for her collaborations with producers such as Skrillex, Seven Lions, and Calvin Harris, though her own career as a singer and songwriter spans far beyond the limits of electronic music.

According to an interview with The Sun, her recent breakup with boyfriend of over 2 years Dougie Poynter has put her in a difficult headspace.

“When you’re in the public eye, it seems like you’re able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true.

“People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough.

I’m not in a relationship any more and that’s been hard.

Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head.”

He’s doing well in LA and he’s still one of my best friends. I know he feels the same.

But I think for me and anybody else going through the same thing, it’s really important to get to know yourself, be happy with your own company and like yourself.

The only way I can do that is by spending time with myself.

The last couple of weeks have been quite strange and quite different for me because I’ve been by myself so much, but I think it’s healthy to do.”

After the fan uproar following the publication of the interview (with a somewhat misleading headline), she took to twitter to reassure fans that she's not quitting for good.
