Avicii Cancels Several Dates on Last Tour, See Who's Taking His Place
Less than two months after announcing to his fans that this would be his last tour, Tim Bergling aka Avicii has cancelled all 2016 Las Vegas shows. He was scheduled to appear this weekend and the following three Sundays at the Encore Beach Club, but due to "personal issues" is no longer performing.
Despite the cancellations, ticket holders are not at a complete loss. Avicii's representation released a public statement to Billboard that his other tour dates would not be affected and as for the Las Vegas, Dillon Francis and Marshmello have been officially confirmed to take his place.
While Dillon Francis already reigns as dance music royalty, this announcement solidifies that Marshmello has officially taken the EDM world by storm, as he now follows in the footsteps of former Avicii replacement and producer sensation Kygo.
In an open letter published by the Swedish artist a few months ago, he claimed that he "took the time to drive across the U.S. with [his] friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way and it really helped [him] realize that [he] needed to make the change that [he’d] been struggling with for a while."
While he has retired from touring, the DJ will continue to make and release music. "I will however never let go of music - I will continue to speak to my fans through it, but I’ve decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let’s make them go out with a bang!"
