Watch These Producers Make Music in an Abandoned Detroit Church [WATCH]
American DJ/producer Mija shared a video of her appearances during Movement Festival in Detroit, Michigan. From underground after parties to alfresco events, Mija once again proved herself as an artist to watch closely.
The most interesting portion of the video lies under the roof of Assemble Sound, an abandoned church preserved by local artists as a fully working studio and performance space. In addition to Mija, Baauer is also one of the many commended artists claimed to use the eerie Detroit workspace. Mija chose to set up her equipment in front of the church pews.
"About a year and a half ago, a bunch of musicians who were sick of watching fans move out of the city were like, 'we gotta create a spot where all these different producers who are doing their things in private warehouse spaces or home studios converge to co-write together,'" one of the artists explains.
Videographer Ryan Farber takes us into the church and behind the scenes of the unlikely space in the video below.
Mija is fresh off the release of her new single "Better," a collaborative track released via OWSLA last month with Vindata.
