Grammy Winning Rocker Beck Dropped EDM Beats and We Kinda Love It
He hit the top of the alternative charts in the early 1994 with his hit single "Loser" and 22 years later Beck is still pushing genre boundaries with his new track "Wow".
Although Beck has never shied away from using electronic elements in his music, "Wow" in particular demonstrates the changing tide in the music industry for artists of all types to be more inclusive of electronically produced beats. Having just been featured on Flume's latest album Skins on the track "Tiny Cities", Beck has demonstrated that he certainly isn't scared to work with some of today's fastest rising stars.
While the track certainly doesn't use high-tempo beats to truly classify it as a dance track, "Wow" features trap snares with soft bass lines with make it a smooth transition for even the most reserved Beck fan. Following the release of his 2015 indie-pop single "Dreams", "Wow" demonstrates that this may be a direction that Beck will continue to pursue.
