SnowGlobe Music Festival producer Chad Donnelly recently requested a contract extension with the city of South Lake Tahoe, managing to win a mere, two-year add-on. The extension will expire on December 31, 2018.

Citing costs as a primary concern, the City of South Lake Tahoe did not take lightly to Donnelly’s plea for funding increases – an additional $5k per year – on top of the $75k SnowGlobe already receives from the City of South Lake Tahoe and Lake Tahoe Visitors Association. An additional worry for council members includes potential damages to the festival’s site, Lake Tahoe Community College’s Athletics Field.

Mayor Wendy David commented:

“I don’t have a concern necessarily about the event, but I do have venue concerns. We are building our two community fields. For instance, next summer they will have brand new grass that potentially then could be completely ruined and demolished six months later by a big event.”
