Skrillex & Wiwek Release 18-Min Short Film 'Still in the Cage' [WATCH]
After dropping the trailer a few days ago, Skrillex and Wiwek have released their debut short film, Still in the Cage.
The film was written and directed by Jonathan Desbiens aka Jodeb, who worked closely with Wiwek and Skrillex on the project and drew heavy inspiration from Wiwek's EP The Free and Rebellious, which serves as the film's soundtrack.
Set in Bangkok, the film follows the treacherous lives of four young people. Kat, Wow, Champagne and Book are just trying to get by but, they are plagued by their circumstances in a city where they are cast aside and left to fend for themselves.
So they decide to start anew by leaving the city behind in search of a supposed abandoned settlement in the jungle where people live as free spirits, unimpeded by judgments or the world as they've come to know it.
After a long journey, they find the settlement but in order to stay they must "let go of their tainted nature" by undergoing the Wysoccan ceremony...
The film premeired August 17 at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles and was released to the internet August 18, the same day Skrillex unleashed a new track with Mr. Oizo.
