James Zwadlo, director, designer and co-founder of the young London-based company Impossible Brief recently uploaded a video on YouTube that takes viewers behind the scenes of the making of the artwork for The Chainsmokers' new single "Closer" featuring Halsey.
Impossible Brief has also designed artwork for Snails and Adventure Club as well as big brings like Samsung and Honda. Check out the video to see how they made the stunning image of the couple frozen in embrace by tattoos.
"Closer" featuring Halsey was released on July 29, 2016 by Disruptor and Columbia Records. It quickly soared to the top of the charts and became The Chainsmokers' and Halsey's first number-one single in three countries - United States, New Zealand and Australia.
Chainsmokers member Andrew Taggart and Freddy Kennett of Louis the Child were working in the studio together when Taggart conceived of the original beat for the single. The lyrics were written in one session with Taggart and Shaun Frank, who encourage Taggart to sing on the track. "Closer" became the first single featuring vocals from one of the members of The Chainsmokers. The song draws inspiration from Blink-182 and Taking Back Sunday.
On August 25, MTV announced that The Chainsmokers and Halsey will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards. The duo will be joining a lineup of performers that include Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, G-Eazy, Future, Rihanna and more. The Chainsmokers are also up for Best Electronic Video for "Don't Let Me Down."
The MTV Video Music Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from Madison Square Garden in New York.
