Before celebrities like P.Diddy and Susan Sarandon became regular features on the Playa, Burning Man was something different all together.

In this 1997 feature from ABC, news reporters investigate the powerful draw to Burning Man and what the community really means. At the time of the feature, Burning Man was only hosting between 8,000-15,000 attendees, demonstrating a huge increase in growth to upwards of 60,000 who attended in 2014.

Check out the feature below, and reminisce when VHS tapes were normal and Burning Man was small!
