In preparation for the first Groove Cruise Cabo, EDM.com caught up with Cedric Steinmyller, better known as Klingande, one of the many anticipated headliners for the upcoming cruise.

Klingande is a melodic house producer hailing from Croix, Northern France and one of the most refreshingly creative artists on the scene right now.

His journey began early on studying music theory as a child and later lead him to Point Blank Music College in London. It was his 2013 uplifting single "Jubel" that catapulted him into the EDM limelight. The record soared to #1 in 30 countries, became the most Shazamed track across Europe and garnered over 100 million YouTube views, 51 million Spotify plays and 17 million SoundCloud plays.

EDM.com spoke with Klingande about his most memorable fan moment, as he prepares to set sail for Groove Cruise Cabo.

How did you encounter this fan? What was the time and setting?

It was following a special operation on my Facebook, we had this meet & greet contest on Facebook for a show I made in my hometown of Lille, France. This was a bit special because it was a partnership with Uber where I drove the car, picked up a few fans, had a chat with them, took some pictures, and took them to the rehearsals of the show. It was a lot of fun actually, driving the car and meeting these fans.

What was said? And how did it make you feel?

We talked about my music, my tour and the show which was about to happen. It was the very first time I played with my band on stage, so I was pretty nervous and we talked about all that. It always feels great to meet fans and get their opinions on my music and shows, as well as seeing them happy, sharing the rehearsals and meeting the team.

Why do you still think about this interaction?

I love to meet people who listen to my music, that’s one of the best achievements. They always give their straight opinion on songs I released, and they push me to do more and more, and continue to work!

How has it changed the way you think about making music, playing music or your fan base?

I think it pushes you to always give the best of yourself, in your music and in your shows. You meet people who really like what you do, and they deserve the best from you in return for their unconditional support. I think this connection is really important and I love to meet my fans for that.

What are you most looking forward to at Groove Cruise?

I think it will be great, I’m trying to have the violin player for the first time in US to make a big great show. Plus I love this concept of cruise, and playing on a boat. It’s a lot of fun!

How do you think being on a boat for a festival - with fans and artists in such close quarters - changes the vibe and impacts the overall experience?

You are definitely closer to the crowd, you can interact with them, take pictures during the show, dance with them. We love to do that, select some fans to bring them on stage, take selfies, sometime I take their phone and film while I’m playing. This really close ambiance is exciting and is always really good.
