The White House and SXSW are Throwing a 1-Day Music Festival
A summer playlist wasn't enough. The Obama administration is throwing a festival with the help SXSW. South by South Lawn is inspired by the famed music festival in Austin, TX, which President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama delivered the keynote speech for back in March.
The miniature version of the music festival will take place on October 3, 2016, according to NPR member station KUT. Just like the Music, Interactive and Film portions of SXSW, this White House festival will be complete with music, panel discussions, student films and live performances
In a statement, the Obama administration said the event "will bring together creators, innovators, and organizers who work day in and day out to improve the lives of their fellow Americans and people around the world."
The White House is even accepting nominations for who you'd like to see at South by South Lawn. Just head over to the official website before September 10 at 5pm.
I'm a storyteller at heart, and music makes my world go round.
