Seven Lions & Jason Ross Team Up on New Collab "Higher Love"
Seven Lions is back with another fine single this week, teaming up with Jason Ross of Anjunabeats for a soaring collaboration titled "Higher Love." For the new song, the two producers have enlisted alt-rocker Paul Meany of MUTEMATH fame to handle the vocal duties, a task he pulls off with style.
"Higher Love" opens with a gentle intro, as Paul Meany's languid tenor fills the speakers over layers of airy synths. The energy swells up as arpeggiated sequences and steady hand claps pick up the pace, leading into a rapid four on the floor drop. The song really comes together in the second drop though, as half time rhythms underscore electrifying melodies and flowing chords to an intoxicating effect.
On the new tune, which Seven Lions refers to as one of the "quickest and smoothest collabs [he's] ever worked on," he and Jason Ross offer up the best of their respective styles to arrive at an alluring middle ground. "Higher Love" strikes the perfect balance between dancefloor ready rhythms and goosebump inducing melodies, while the vocal contributions take the song's emotive nature to the next level.
