Don Diablo Flips The Script With Wonky House Single "Switch"
After wrapping up his first ever headlining US tour last month, Don Diablo is ready to get 2017 off the ground with his first release of the year. Titled "Switch," the new single sees the Hexagon Records head honcho deviating from his future house hallmarks as he offers up a twisted take on the genre.
Don Diablo gets his latest offering underway with a repeating bass drum sound as the producer gradually layers in evolving rhythms that spiral upwards. The drawn out build up culminates in a wonky house section, driven by rubbery, pitch shifting synths and unrelenting four on the floor groove. After a brief interlude led by an epic string section, "Switch" brings it home with a final run through of the drop.
In a short time frame, Don Diablo manages to take the listener on an energetic journey with "Switch." While the style may be less accessible than some of the producer's previous work, he earns points for trying something different, and the new single still packs enough of a punch to get the crowds riled up come festival season.
"Switch" is out now via Hexagon Records. Take a listen below.
