Major Lazer & Showtek Unveil Powerful "Believer" Music Video [WATCH]
Major Lazer and Showtek have unveiled the official music video for their hit collaboration "Believer."
Already in the race with over 50 million streams, "Believer" is expected to be a staple on Major Lazer’s upcoming album Music Is The Weapon. Since its release on September 30, 2016, the collaboration with Showtek has made festival appearances including Lollapalooza, Burning Man and Parookaville.
The "Believer" music video features Netflix’s XOXO film director Christopher Louie's political visuals to match the song’s philanthropic message and goals. The song’s proceeds are benefiting children caught in Aleppo’s crossfire via Save The Children, a nonprofit with a proven track-record of giving 87% of all expenditures to relevant program services.
Louie’s newest cinematic masterwork “Believer” truly touches spectators by pulling from familiar imagery of Omran Daqneesh, the Syrian child caked with blood and debris uncomfortably sitting in an ambulance after an airstrike attack. Major Lazer and Showtek felt it was necessary to shoot on location in Syria with all local cast and crew.
"As dark as the subject matter is, the point of our ‘Believer’ video was to capture the resilience of youth and the hope displayed by communities coming together to save victims from the rubble," Louie said.
