SLANDER & Kayzo release first song off collaborative EP, "Without You" [LISTEN]
After weeks of anticipation, Slander and Kayzo have released the first single from their forthcoming EP, Dilapidation Celebration. Released this past Friday on Monstercat, “Without You” is a guitar driven track accompanied by Dylan Matthew providing vocals.
The verse is a soothing combination of guitar and vocals accompanied by various percussive instruments. It sets a mellow tone that will carry on throughout the entire track. The drop is a future bass style chord progression and sound design that maintains the same low key, down to earth feel that the verse has.
To sum it up, “Without You” is an emotional, mellow track that embraces simplicity. In an industry that emphasizes heavy production techniques, Slander and Kayzo created a track that could sound just as good played acoustically than as a fully produced track. To me, that’s a sign of a well written song and it leaves me anxious to hear what else they have in store on their forthcoming EP. As of this writing, the release date for Dilapidation Celebration is TBD but I can’t imagine they’ll keep us waiting much longer after the release of the first track. For those of you that have listened to the song, what do you think? Are you excited to hear what else Slander and Kayzo have on Dilapidation Celebration?
