How Hook n Sling is Quickly Becoming One of EDM’s Rising Stars [INTERVIEW]
After releasing on Spinnin Records and collaborating with the likes of Galantis, Hook n Sling is very quickly becoming a strong figure within EDM.
After arriving on the commercial scene with the hit single “Love on Me,” many people (including my mom) were singing & dancing along to his music. But how did this artist from Australia become so successful in the music scene? I went to find out…
Anthony Maniscalco (Hook n Sling) is a multiplatinum nominated producer, songwriter & DJ. After his breakout song “The Bump” was released in 2006, it picked up recognition from the likes of Pete Tong, and he was subsequently featured on The Ministry Of Sound Annual 2010 with a remix for Fedde Le Grand.
During 2014, Hook n Sling received the Axwell remix treatment of his track “Tokyo by Night.” After releasing it on Axtone, the song received support from multiple radio stations - including Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1.
Ever since, his musical journey has consistently been in an upwards trajectory. Following release of his new remix for Halsey, I decided to catch up with Hook n Sling to discuss his ambitions for the future.
EDM.com: Hook n Sling is certainly regarded as one of the biggest names within electronic music. What can we expect in the future?
Hook n Sling: I feel like over the last couple of years I’ve become more known for my remixes rather than my originals….so it's all about my originals over the next few months. I’ve been feeling really inspired lately to write.
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
There a few but once I told Lil John I really liked his latest track…I named some Lil Wayne record….I was just trying to break the ice lol. There's was also a time I got on the mic and said what's up Chicago…while I was in New York…sh*t happens.
This remix is one of the coolest tracks I’ve heard all year. Is there anyone that you would love to collaborate with?
Oh thanks!!! Some of my faves right now are Khalid, MNEK, Alina Baraz and Mura Masa.
I’d like to thank Hook n Sling for taking the time to talk with me about his music career. You can stream his new remix below:
