Diplo Rallies Support by Donating $100,000 to the Victims of the Las Vegas Tragedy

After the tragic events in Las Vegas, producer superstar Diplo has spoken out in support of gun control, but also made a huge donation to the victims. His $100,000 donation will go straight to GoFundMe’s Las Vegas Victims’ Fund, and he also challenged other artists to match him.

In his post on Twitter, along with a full statement he wrote: “I donated $100,000 this weekend to the victims in Las Vegas. I challenge any other Dj’s or hotel owners to match it we owe it to the city <3”

In the statement itself Diplo wrote:

“My deepest sympathies are with the victims of this horrific tragedy and their families. It’s my hope that these events will start a long-awaited and honest conversation about the importance of gun control in America. Las Vegas is my second home and it’s devastating to see this happen in such a vibrant city with an amazing community of people I consider my family.”

Artists like Valentino Khan, Kaskade, and Tiësto have already stepped up to the plate, offering large sums of money to the victims of the awful shooting in Las Vegas which occurred last weekend.

The money, unfortunately, will not bring back the lives of 59 innocent individuals, or remove the pain from the more than 500 injured during the abhorrent events at Route 91 Harvest festival. However, it does demonstrate that we, as a community of music fans, artists, and warm-hearted humans will not allow these tragedies to dictate our lives. We condemn mass shootings, but we will not allow ourselves to continuously live in fear of them.

If you think that our country needs to adopt sensible gun policy, please join the nearly 700,000 other individuals who have signed the petition to let our government know that gun control doesn't mean gun prohibition.
