After Writing Hits for Zedd, Matthew Koma Drops Single “Hard to Love”
Matthew Koma, writer of Zedd's Grammy Award-winning mega-hit “Clarity”, has just released a new original song of his own titled “Hard to Love”.
This track fuses together catchy pop vocals with an electronic melody in the background for a fun listening experience. Louis the Child co-produced the new single, working in a heavy dose of uplifting future bass vibes into the track, helping bring Koma's words to life. “Hard to Love” is a follow up to Matthew’s last release, “Kisses Back”, which has already achieved massive popularity, breaking 5 million views on YouTube as well as receiving remixes from Steve James, Tom Swoon & Indigo, Golden Coast, CRaymak, and FLØRALS.
Previously, Matthew stood as one of the most accomplished songwriters of this genre, being responsible for both Zedd’s “Spectrum” and “Clarity”, Alesso’s “Years”, and Tiesto’s “Wasted”. As a writer, producer, and remixer, he has also worked with a range of pop stars including Lady Gaga and Brittney Spears as well as his greatest influence, Bruce Springsteen. Koma's writing on “Hard to Love” demonstrates the songwriter's penchant for infusing melancholic metaphors with a comedic nonchalance creating a unique track that's relatable to audiences.
“I’m OCD with panic attacks. I've got a thing for Japanese dry snacks. My voice was on like every fuckin house track. Tell me when you've heard enough...“
With two big new releases and a hugely successful writing career, Koma shows the evolution of his refined sound as he taps into the new generation of producers like Jai Wolf, Louis the Child, Flux Pavillion, and Grey. Matthew has spent the last year fully transforming into a solo artist, traveling the world, and not to mention playing at some of the world’s largest music festivals including Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza South America. It’s no wonder Entertainment Tonight referred to Matthew to as “the Man with EDM’s Golden Touch.”
So what’s next for Matthew? With the release of “Hard to Love” he is heading back to the studio to work on his debut album for RCA Records, co-producing with some of the biggest names in the EDM scene right now.
