Ahead of the 59th annual Grammys, DJ Louie Vega sets the record straight on EDM’s cultural ties. In a sit-down interview with TrackRecord, the Bronx native reflects on the significance of his 28-song set, Starring…XXVIII, contending for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

“Even being nominated, we were recognized,” the Puerto-Rican producer said. “A lot of house music was made by African American[s] and Latinos, so we’ve all been playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people, millions of people, for many years.”
