While this week may be most known for Ultra Music Festival, those who explore outside the festival grounds are sure to find no shortage of their favorite mainstage artists in showcases across the city. That said, for those feeling overwhelmed by all this week has to offer, here are some of our mainstage Miami Music Week selections we feel are deserving of the spotlight.
Spinnin’ Sessions (3/22)
Spinnin Sessions, one of the most popular weekly radio shows, returns for its Miami installment at MMW. As the most iconic progressive label around, you’d be hard pressed to find a dance music fan who has not felt the influence of Spinnin Records on this scene. With the revival of the Spinnin Hotel again this year, the label takes home court advantage in addition to hosting one of the most highly anticipated events of the week.
Heldeep Pool Party (3/23)
When it comes to melodic, pop inspired future house, look no further than Oliver Heldens. With his sound having become wildly popular in recent years, he’s once again bringing the magic of his uplifting grooves to the pool deck along with some friends. Check out the crew representing his label,Heldeep Records, for an early taste of summer, as the laid back melodies and rhythms set the perfect vibe.
Dada Life at E11even (3/23)
I don’t think anyone has ever denied Dada Life’s ability to throw a party of epic proportions. From giant inflatable bananas and champagne showers, to breaking Guinness world records for pillow fights, these guys always seem to have something wildly unexpected up their sleeves. I’m sure their MMW shenanigans this year will be no different. Get ready to join Team No Sleep for this one, at Club E11even.
Revealed Recordings Miami (3/23)
With progressive labels coming out in full force for MMW, you just knew Hardwell and company weren’t going to be caught sleeping on the action. The most memorable members of the Revealed Recordings family join him for what will surely be a night to remember. Some of the most internationally recognized names fill this bill, and as heavily touring artists you know they look forward to bringing their best to the Miami stage all year long.
Protocol Miami (3/23)
Protocol Recordings label head and progressive superstar Nicky Romero is pulling out all the stops to showcase the top of the line talent his label has to offer. No better club for it to all go down than at club Ora in Miami this music week. The Billboard featured Protocol compilation album has us brimming with anticipation already, and it's only a matter of time before this dynamic lineup has the opportunity to completely blow our expectations away.
Mixmash Miami (3/23)
The Mixmash crew is back with their 2017 offering of their legendary Miami event. Laidback Luke has been a purveyor of talent for nearly as long as I’ve been alive, so safe to say it comes with experience. You never know exactly what Laidback Luke is going to play before he graces the decks, and similarly, he finds himself in good company with versatile artists of all different backgrounds.
Above & Beyond with Eric Prydz (3/23)
There won’t be a dry eye in this room. Above & Beyond return to MMW with fellow dance music heavyweight Eric Prydz to deliver the very best in trance and progressive house respectively. These legends never cease to impress, and when the stage is set in Miami, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Heartfelt Pool Party (3/24)
Of course, what’s a week in Miami without a pool party. Luckily, Sam Feldt & Spinnin’ Records have brought together some of the best progressive talent to the pool side. Joined by the likes of Lost Kings, The Him, and more, this party is sure to embody all the uplifting, summer-like vibes characteristic of Miami Music Week.
Alesso at Story (3/24)
MMW seemingly leaves no stone unturned between its plethora of pool parties and Ultra Music Festival, yet even so, some of the biggest producers are taking their talents to the club. Alesso kickstarts the weekend, capping off the opening day of Ultra Music festival at Story nightclub. As one of the most memorable songwriters in electronic music, with new music freshly released, Alesso continues to dominate club and festival crowds everywhere, and this will be no exception.
Dim Mak Miami (3/24)
Two main stage veterans, Steve Aoki and Borgore merge worlds and collectively find themselves in good company. Both successful label heads in their own right, this lineup for the Dim Mak Miami party is sure to turn heads. We already know they’ll be joined by by club floor killer Deorro, and trap extraordinaires Keys N Krates, but the best part is this is only phase one.
Armin Van Buuren (3/24)
It’s only fitting that arguably one of the biggest names in dance music takes the stage all on his own for one night only. If you’ve never seen him before, there’s no better time to see what the five-time top ranking DJ Mag producer is all about. Over the years there’s never been a doubt that Armin van Buuren is a top curator in his field, so expect nothing but quality from the A State of Trance head honcho.
