DJs Are Keeping their Insta-Game Strong by Going Live!
Once that notification pops up on your phone screen, you are invited to immerse yourself with your favorite artist! Diplo, Dillon Francis, and The Chainsmokers, to name a few, have taken creative measures on how they are connecting and interacting with their fans.
Instagram has long been a driven social game of likes and comments. While integrating Snapchat with Instagram has been great strategy to more closely connect, live is the next level. The upgrade which debuted at the end of 2016, has allowed artists and fans to get closer than ever before. The live setting allows for a raw and authentic experience without any filters.
DJs such as Dillon Francis will go live and simply answer questions and comments that are simultaneously streaming through his phone. Another fun aspect to the experience comes when fans can see when another famous artist hops in the live stream through the comments. For example, Dillon Francis hops on Diplo’s live stream and playfully participates as well, allowing fans to get a chance to get to know the two superstar DJs in a more intimate way.
Chicago duo Louis the Child recently got creative with their social media engagement and started mixing live. They welcomed their Twitter followers by tweeting to join them on their live stream. This gave fans, old and new, a way to get a flavor for what LTC’s DJ sets may be like.
Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers, upon request from a fan, belted out ‘Paris’ on Instagram live – pleasing everyone who watched! The special part about the experience is that what you and whomever entered that live chat witnessed can never be replicated.
In this new age of music where being a personality is nearly as important as the music itself, some of EDM's biggest names are using their celebrity status to their advantage. And admittedly, we're not opposed.
What would you want your favorite artist to do on Instagram live?
