Louis The Child Show “Love Is Alive” With Dynamic New EP [LISTEN}

Fresh off the conclusion of their Spring Tour, Chicago natives Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren, better known as Louis The Child, are showcasing their versatility with their debut EP effort “Love Is Alive.”

Despite their ages (Freddy, 19 and Robby, 20) the members of Louis The Child are by no means new to the world of electronic music; they met at a Madeon show and began playing together in 2013 not looking back since. They first gained traction in 2015 with the release of their massive single “It’s Strange” featuring K.Flay, and have since toured as openers for The Chainsmokers as well as Porter Robinson and Madeon on the European leg of their acclaimed Shelter Live Tour, while simultaneously racking up millions of plays on their high profile remixes and originals.

The “Love Is Alive EP” is in a way the evolution of Louis The Child’s sound and while their signature sound is undoubtedly present throughout; it pushes the boundaries of their music and show a willingness to try something different. The EP includes previous releases “Fire” and it’s namesake “Love Is Alive” featuring Elohim, in addition there are four uniquely differently new tracks from the Chicago duo. The first track “Go” features Freddy’s vocal debut borrowing a page out of Drew of The Chainsmokers book. Chelsea Cutler lends her vocals to “Slow Down Love” in a lush downtempo track showcasing the use of steel drums in place of the typical drop. “Phone Died" features rapper Blaise Railey in a very relatable, 90’s hip-hop inspired track about; you guessed it, a dead phone. Lastly the projects most surprising effort “World On Fire” features the sultry vocals Ashe alongside an accompaniment that feels more at home in a jazz club rather than the mainstage of a music festival.

The “Love Is Alive EP” is truly the sum of its parts, and while each song stands out on its own, together they help to create one of the most unique releases in electronic music so far this year. Louis The Child have shown their versatility as producers and have translated it into a brand uniquely their own and this EP should be taken as a sign of things to come. Be sure to catch Louis The Child on the festival circuit this summer and check out the “Love Is Alive EP” out now!
