The Chainsmokers Break Their Own Record With "Paris"
The Chainsmokers' chart topping hit "Closer" with Halsey has finally been dethroned, bringing a 27 week stint at the number one spot to a close. It's not all bad news for the duo, however, as "Closer" was usurped by their own recently released single "Paris."
"Paris" has jumped from the number two spot to the top of the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, becoming The Chainsmokers' fifth number one hit. The duo's newly released collaboration with Coldplay on "Something Just Like This" is off to a strong start as well, having debuted at the number six spot.
"Something Just Like This" is already breaking records in its own right, with the music video racking up more views in its first 24 hours than any YouTube video before it. The Coldplay collaboration and "Paris" serve as the first singles from The Chainsmokers' upcoming album Memories...Do Not Open, which is set to be released next month.
Love them or hate them, there's no denying that The Chainsmokers have some major momentum behind them. At this point, it would seem the only thing capable of pushing their catchy singles out of the limelight is them inevitably releasing a new song.
