Grab Your Tissues, Mysteryland USA 2017 is OFFICIALLY Cancelled
Yes, you read that right.
Even after announcing headliners and opening ticket sales, the music festival held on the original Woodstock grounds in Bethel, New York, Mysteryland USA has cancelled it’s 2017 occurrence. On Saturday evening, they issued an official statement explaining that “unforeseen circumstances” lead up to the cancellation, and that full refunds are already being given out to ticket holders
Mysteryland USA was planned to take place from June 9th - 12th this year. Over 90 different artists were scheduled to perform at the eco-friendly arts and culture festival including G-Eazy, Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, and Porter Robinson.
Many attendees were already suspicious of the cancellation days before the official statement was released. According to other websites such as YourEDM, the speculated reason for the cancellation was that the festival “did not gain the hype it needed, and ultimately didn’t reach the ticket sales required to cover costs”. Admittedly, although the lineup includes many high-power international acts, including house and tech-house figures like Jamie Jones, Art Department, and Patrick Topping, the American festival audience just might not be ready for a new sound.
Speculation aside, Mysteryland has not released any details along with the statement. Fans have voiced their disappointment in response to the post on Facebook, with many saying that they think this could have been prevented if the festival originally booked a better lineup.
