If You Love “Spirited Away,” Then You Have To Check This Out
The theme song from the beloved masterpiece, Spirited Away, from the genius, Hayao Miyazaki, has received the electronic treatment.
Grammy nominated producer, Andrei Eremin, has taken it upon himself to delve into Miyazaki’s filmography and create a mixtape that draws from several of his films
Starting this new project that he has dubbed, Ghosting (of which he has made his nom de beats), Eremin has created a mixtape titled, “Reimagining Miyazaki,” that draws from Eremin’s love for anything Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli. His inspiration is so blatantly apparent and had this to say about the project:
The mixtape started as a lightbulb moment to sample Spirited Away, one of my all-time favourite films. I took out my keyboard on a whim, cut up the intro to the film and within 4 hours I’d finished the best track I’d ever made. It was a sign. From there the decision made itself - I had to sample every other Miyazaki film.'
It’s a beautiful thing when someone can take their lifelong love and passion and translate it into their art. It can be argued that organic inspiration is something that is lacking in the electronic genre and Andrei Eremin is hoping to change the game with this not so radical idea. So if you are an aspiring, budding, energetic producer, take this to heart. Find that original passion. Utilize it in such a way that you may one day be as proud as Eremin.
Be sure to check out his first taste of this mixtape below!
