Yellow Claw Unleashes a Slew of New Music on 'Los Amsterdam' [LISTEN]
Named as a tribute to the city of Amsterdam and Los Angeles, Jim Aasgier and Nizzle of Yellow Claw dropped their new album Los Amsterdam on March 31.
Unlike their previous album, Blood for Mercy, Los Amsterdam does not open with Yellow Claw usual turbocharged trap. “Home,” is an uplifting synth track supported by Sophie Simmons’ sweet vocals. Collaborations with DJ Snake and Elliphant on “Good Day” also another example of Yellow Claw experimenting outside their known genre. “Good Day” is heavy on cut and chop vocals and pop vibes.
Fans of Blood for Mercy don’t need to worry about the absence of Yellow Claw’s signature sound, though. By featuring notable rappers like Juicy J, Quavo of Migos, Lil Debbie, Tinie Tempah, Cesqeaux and more, the album is still contained rap-fueled rager like “City of Lockdown” and “Stacks.”
Released under Mad Decent, Los Amsterdam is a solid album that does not constrict itself to a specific genre. With 13 tracks, the album covers from trap, house, future bass, and moombhaton, to create the general chaos that Yellow Claw is known for.
Along with Marshmello and Big Gigantic, Yellow Claw is confirmed as a headliner for Bonnaroo’s electronic and hip-hop stage The Other.
Yellow Claw is also going to play at NYC’s Electric Zoo, EDC Tokyo, Belgium’s Tomorrowland and its Wynn residency in between. Catch them on tour when they hit your city!
